Jobs Queensland empowering regional Queensland

With Queensland set to witness remarkable growth in the job market by 2025, Jobs Queensland is leading the charge in preparing regional Queensland for this surge by bringing together industry, regions, employers and the community to forecast the skills that will be needed into the future.

Their Anticipating Future Skills Series to June 2025 provides valuable insights for workforce planning and decision-making. By offering detailed employment projections at the regional level, this data equips industry stakeholders, government and individuals with an understanding of Queensland’s future labour market, enabling businesses to plan effectively for jobs growth.

Nine Regional Jobs Committees (RJCs) have been established across the help industry access local skills.  Jobs Queensland helps these RJCs to leverage data and research to identify workforce development priorities and inform targeted training and attraction strategies that are specific to each region.

Jobs Queensland proactively partners with regions throughout Queensland to develop place-based workforce strategies through our Grow Your Own regional workforce program and offers tailored workforce planning advice, capability development to all industry sectors across Queensland. This includes their free Workforce Planning Connect resources to support micro, small and medium-sized businesses to begin their workforce planning journey and access the skills and workforce they need.

This support was enhanced in 2023, with a new free Workforce Planning Course to help Queensland businesses tackle workforce shortages. Delivered in partnership with the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) this course equips business owners and managers with the knowledge and tools to develop an agile workforce – that can adapt to changing environments and pressures.

Their Workforce Planning for Regions guide is another resource that supports regions to build their workforce planning capability and develop workforce plans and initiatives to support ‘grow your own’ workforces and cross-sector skills development.
