Lewis Mavrantonis is the Manager of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development Local Content Adviser Network. He has over 15 years’ experience managing State Government teams in the delivery of public policy for local businesses in rural and regional Western Australia.
In 2008 Lewis managed the Rural Business Development Unit at the Department of Agriculture and Food and spent 10 years in the National Drought Policy Reform agenda for Government which included delivery of the WA Pilot of Drought Reform Measures from 2010 to 2012. The pilot won the overall Economic Development Australia National Award in 2012 for Strategic Planning; and was also nominated for the 2012 Premier’s Awards for Excellence in Public Sector Management under the revitalizing the regions category and was Highly Commended – under the Engaging the Community Innovation Award in the WA Multicultural Community Service Awards 2013.
His advocacy for Behavioural Economics and the examination of human judgement and decision making in regional business development led him to take up and opportunity in 2018 to manage the Local Content Adviser Network.
In this role Lewis is currently researching through the Local Content Adviser Network the impact of the following, on regional development in WA: Government spending and the participation of regional business in the supply chain Buying close to home The value for money proposition in procurement.
