Search on for Regional Case Studies
The Sustainable Economic Growth for Regional Australia (SEGRA) Conference being conducted in Cobram Barooga this year is seeking papers from regions who have successfully and collectively driven economic development in their regions.
Regions and decentralisation was front and centre of the national conversation in 2018 with the House of Representatives Select Committee on Regional Development and Decentralisation making its final report. This has been a watershed event for the nation highlighting the imperative to unlock economic potential and transform regions. This imperative has placed greater scrutiny on the role of place-based approaches where regions leverage government investment to further national policy goals such as economic reform.
This emphasis is because it is increasingly recognised that local leaders at government, social and corporate levels are collectively best placed to drive triple bottom line development in their own regions.
Regional Australia has a long-standing reputation for innovation that maximises national outcomes across human services delivery, education, technology uptake, tourism development, amenity attraction, innovation and collaboration.
