Major funding applications by local government - what to do and what not to do?

Applications for funding is a time consuming fact of life for many of us. Local government in regional locations needs support from all three levels of government to secure funding necessary for major infrastructure projects.

Opportunities for funding can arrive unexpectedly and understanding what needs to be done, who the stakeholders are and the role they can play in a successful funding bid are all important. In particular, the importance of proactively engaging with the community cannot be underestimated.

This presentation at SEGRA 2019 will focus on the City of Mount Gambier’s journey to securing $15 m from the Federal Government and $10 million from the State Government for a $39.1 m project. It can be done but comes with significant challenges.

This presentation will offer great insights into how to overcome these challenges and the benefits reaped.
